2022 Artist Recap

2022 buzzed with milestones, transformation and reconnection. The year began with a presentation to Canadian Federation for University Women, viewable on YouTube. I enjoyed connecting with this impactful group!

In spring, I participated in the 100 Day Project, creating and sharing a new artwork daily. I explored new mediums while further developing my artistic voice. I released my music online and jammed for the first time. I entered my third year of studying guitar with Mike Ferraro from Long & McQuade. I also completed a large, narrative painting, Between the Light and explored new ways to include embroidery in my artwork.

I steered my giving energies towards First Saturday, a regional open art studio walk like the Crawl yet held the first Saturday of every month. Artist membership grew 33% year-over-year despite a new, annual membership fee. We began to see more visitors! I also hit a 1,000 follower milestone with my own art Instagram account. The prestigious Canadian Cancer Society Daffodil Ball returned after a few years halted by the pandemic. I was delighted to receive their invitation to donate again to this important cause. I celebrated 10 years cancer free in 2022! I sold several works this year including Take Flight, Mi Amor My Love, and Keepers of the Coast among others. 35% of the proceeds of latter went towards protecting the environment through Central Coast Indigenous Resource Alliance. I hosted my first art demo in my art studio for about 25 attendees!

Visiting art museums and travelling again locally and internationally was inspiring! As several dear ones are in the US, it was a milestone to finally reconnect after three years!

Exhibition highlights include groups shows with Jen Tough Gallery’s Artist Alliance and The Gallery George. My work was sold in the secondary market. I also participated in my third Eastside Culture Crawl. I was lucky to be curated into their paid exhibition, Next, at The Cultch!

I love being an artist and am so grateful the privilege. Thanks for being part of my community. Thanks to my collectors!! Your support means the world to me. View available work.

2023, I’m coming for you! Onward and upward.

Happy New Year!

New 3D Studio Tours!

I’m thrilled to announce new 3D studio tours! This is perfect for anyone who wants a second look at my studio or who would love to visit but can’t for whatever reason. Tags indicate a work’s availability and can include links or additional information. I will try to update my tags periodically but to be honest, I doubt I’ll do this regularly. It’s always best to send me a quick email to make an inquiry.

Annnnnnd, I’m also helping out a few of artist friends. These artists are in our collective, Eastside Atelier. In case you haven’t heard, a collective of over 45 artists based in Vancouver, Canada. We are located at 1310 William Street. Visits are always welcome!! However, it’s by appointment. Here’s a unique way to visit with no appointment.

Below are three tours I created. It’s early stages. So, this means the tours may be lacking some information. If you have any questions about the Victoria or Dalyn, please email them directly. They would be happy to connect.

Check back regularly to see more artists! I will continue to post more tours here. Have fun!

Keepers of the Coast Funds Social Good

Keepers of the Coast; Acrylic, Medium, String, Gold Leaf on Canvas; 24″x24″

New work!! Keepers of the Coast explores the sculptural potential of minimalist painting. String binds the work and creates texture, tension and fragmentation. A single kintsugi-inspired gold line speaks to repair and history. Poured paint augments expression resulting in layered forms reminiscent of the magical mountains seen in my travels to Cappadocia, Turkey. Simultaneously, this abstract landscape depicts the essence of Canada’s beautiful West Coast. Keepers of the Coast is named to draw attention to the important work of Doug Neasloss, elected Klemtu Chief and Central Coast Resource Alliance (CCIRA) board director.

The painting’s name is drawn from the film of the same name by Aaron Heidt that looks at how the Kitasoo/Xai’Xais, Heiltsuk, Nuxalk, and Wuikinuxv Nations are stewarding their marine territories. I have done several creative projects with the Kitasoo/Xai’Xais nation and I’m thrilled to support their goal to create sustainable environments and healthy local economies and communities. Their work impacts far beyond this region!

By purchasing this painting, 35% of your investment will go directly to helping CCIRA further its initiatives. For more information on the organization, visit www.ccira.ca. Price and details.
