Oceanic Mindfulness: Sensing the Sea

My new painting series, partly informed by mindfulness certification, visually explores awareness and aquatic realms, and their profound effects on our health and well-being. It’s been an amazing journey resulting in 27 new works!

Both mindfulness and being on, in, or near the ocean provide well-documented, therapeutic benefits, including improved mood, cognitive function, immunity and circulation, as well as reduced pain, heart rate and anxiety. These are important advantages needed at a critical time: the United Nations has declared this the Ocean Decade, a pivotal moment to make a difference in climate change; meanwhile, many experts view anxiety as an epidemic in today’s society, driven by stress, social media, and global uncertainties.

Join me as I explore light shimmering through the ocean and tentacles drifting in the sea, capturing the transformative magic of an imagined underwater world! This work shimmers with beautiful iridescent paint that truly needs to be seen in person. You’re invited to the launch of the series during Eastside Atelier’s Pre-Crawl Preview, or you can attend the Eastside Culture Crawl the following weekend!

My heartfelt thanks to all my friends and family for your unwavering support in bringing this painting series to life, with a special mention to James Bishop. Your belief in the work means the world to me.

New! Tondos

A tondo is a Renaissance term for a circular work of art, either a painting or a sculpture. The word derives from the Italian rotondo, “round”. I was gifted four tondos from an artist friend who changed careers. Thank you SH! How lucky I am to have an opportunity to paint on custom, wood tondos! I loved the experience and the final results. Do you? Let me know!

New! Tiny Paintings

These mini paintings make a big impact! Double-thick and crafted on premium, museum-grade 150lb paper, they’re perfect for miniature lovers, travelers, or anyone wanting to add a splash of color and oceanic vibes to a small space. Perfect as solo piece or gorgeous as a series. A beautiful reminder to take a breath and savor the moment.

Music Playlist: Sensing the Sea – Ocean Vibes

I launched two Spotify music playlist to partner with my new art collection.

Sensing the Sea – Ocean Vibes is a collaborative set, with over 16 contributors providing songs, resulting in more than nine hours of ocean-inspired music! Thanks to everyone involved! It’s still a work in progress, so if you have a song you’d like to add, let me know.

Sensing the Sea – Mindful Depths is a collection of calming music that I curated. This playlist embodies the feeling of the series, and both sets were listened to throughout the painting process.

Enjoy!

WINNER! Mobi by Rogers – Bike Art Competition

Exciting news! My ocean design won, and I’m one of just five artists selected to have my work featured on Mobi bikes in Vancouver! A huge thank you to everyone who voted—it’s amazing to kick off my new series with such an honor!

Other New Work

I create what my intuition guides me to, and while these paintings aren’t part of my new series, they’re just as close to my heart. I hope you enjoy them! To inquire about availability or further information, please contact me.
